  • HuTech Selects Merdian Medical Management for Robotics

    Meridian Medical Management announced today that HuTech Resources, a leading healthcare practice management, consulting and medical billing firm working with practices in nine states, has selected Meridian Robotics to automate its billing center. Meridian Robotics will aid HuTech in serving its customer base of physicians, improving efficiency and productivity within the medical billing process.

  • CMS proposes pay increase for post-acute care

    5/1/18

    For fiscal 2019, CMS is proposing an increase in reimbursement policies for hospice, skilled nursing facilities, inpatient psychiatric and rehabilitation facilities. SNF could see an $850 million increase in Medicare payments as part of the 2018 Bipartisan Budget Act. The proposal also opens the potential for allowing remote meetings and less stringent documentation requirements for rehab physicians and facilities, including reduced quality measure reporting for these facilities.

  • Aetna builds with Medicare Advantage growth

    5/1/18

    Aetna has added 250,000 Medicare Advantage members in the first quarter of 2018, in addition to the potential deal with CVS Health. The insurer reported $1.2 billion in net income for Q1 2018, after taking a $381 million loss in the first quarter of 2017.

    Shareholders with CVS and Aetna have approved a $69 billion merger, with the companies now facing a Department of Justice review. There is some feeling, including from the American Antitrust Institute, that the deal could hurt patients and limit competition.
